Finals: Done and dusted
I know this is a bit late to announce but my first finals are officially done and dusted! WOOHOOO!!! HAHAHA! So glad is ended jsut in time for me to keep up and stalk all my instagram and all the web for the most fabulous show on earth! The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2014 in London! WOOHOO!!! So wished I was living there so I could see Candice :( But anyhow, it's funny how I recently started using the phrase "done and dusted" in my tweets or posts about finals and Candice used it recently for the London VSFS 2014 haha! Okay i know it's like quite lame, cuz it's just a phrase but since I know for a fact she never used it in her insta posts or tweets, and neither did I, before recent, so I think it's kinda cool. Almost sort of like telepathy between idol and fan haha! YAY :D I like when there are similarities haha!
Anw, been reposting some live VSFS 2014 stuff on 2nd Dec, but mostly insta vids of the show itself and one or 2 photos. I try to jsut post stuff that are hard to find instead of the runway images of the outfits since there are really tons of fan accounts to do that for me already haha! So I like to be a little more exclusive and jsut source and repost the more hard to find stuff, like personal videos and photos. My friends are like "wah feli your page can just rename it to candice's fanpage already" haha! but remember, I don't post everything, the common ones where u can google and easily have it pop out on your first few searches I won't post them since anyone can easily search for it, then why would there be a need for me to post it when you've probably seen it yourself right? haha!
So yeah, well I guess I'll link my insta stuff another time, too lazy right now.
I'll be heading to Bali from 18-22 Dec Woohoo! Looking forward to it and meanwhile I really need to try very hard and be consistent in my diet and exercise! :(( I really don't wanna regret when sch starts!!
Ps: on a side note, my Top King pink elastic boxing wraps are here! hehe!! And they are absolutely gorgeous!!!!

Liberated from confusion
Now that the cat's out of your bag, I guess I can renew the trust I had in you my friend. :) I'm sure it wasn't easy telling me what in the world of Oz was going on, but I'm glad you did cuz at least we can still be normal friends again.

LEECH
THE THOUGHT OF YOU BEING SUCH A FUCKING LAZY SLUG WHO DOESN'T TRY HARD ENOUGH IS FUCKING ANNOYING AND YOU BETTER NOT COME ASKING ME IF THIS IS ABOUT YOU OR WHO IT'S ABOUT CUZ IMMA FUCKING TEAR YOUR FACE OFF, IF YOU THINK IT'S YOU, THEN YES, THIS POST IS FOR YOUR FUCKING FACE TO SEE. AND IM SO SICK OF HAVING TO HAND ANYTHING TO ANYONE WHO DOESN'T TRY AND JUST WANTS TO BE FED WITH ANOTHER SILVERSPOON. WHY AM I ALWAYS ENDING UP WITH SUCH FUCKERS? I NEED TO GET AWAY FROM ALL THESE USELESS NEGATIVITY IN MY LIFE,
IF THERE'S ANYTHING I DETEST MORE THAN FAKE PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE TRULY FUCKING USELESS THAT TRY TO SEEM USEFUL BY BITING THE HAND THAT FEEDS THEM. E.W. LAZY PEOPLE SHOULD ALL BE FAT. IT'S THE LAW OF MOTHER NATURE. AND KARMA'S CYCLE. THE BALANCE TO ALL YIN & YANG
I AM THIS CLOSE TO THROWING MY PHONE AT MY SCREEN SO IMMA IMAGINE YOUR FACE ON MY PUNCHING BAG.
GOODBYE AND FUCK YOU

Crazy
WOOHOO! Ok I totally predicted everyone's reactions, like "what?! That's so long ago already!" hahaha! It's almost close to a year since I got my punching bag and I only #FINALLY put it up today.. Cuz my mom wants to be around to supervise the whole drilling process cuz she's scared that the whole house will be filled with "dust". And also cuz we couldn't find a space to sacrifice for my punching bag LOL.
Anw, I am so loving my sore knuckles HAHAHA! I desperately needed an avenue to vent all of my sadness and anger out, given the current circumstances. So it's exam week and the past week hasn't been great for me, except for when I went for my jogs more regularly (surprisingly).
Too much drama going on, now I know what people mean when they wish they could escape all of this. And this makes me love the beach even more. Sigh..
I never understood why people felt that the lives they led were shitty cuz for me I could always find a reason to smile a midst some of the crapy drama. But now I feel like I am less tolerant and more easily emotional? Okay, I have always been emotional, like if I'm happy you can tell, but I am rarely emotional in a sad way, which is what I've been experiencing lately. It's like I can't even hide my sad face.
Am glad I still have a certain friend who will still ask me out to have a decent meal, out of all the new friends I've made so far (over the 3months since uni started). After that incident, and after the drama (on my side) that happened and after what Xinfang hinted me about the bad news that she didn't wanna tell me cuz she's afraid I'll get affected by it... I'm not even sure who I can trust to be my friend anymore. How can someone seem so genuine but actually have so much to hide?
Starting to feel like I'm a late bloomer when it comes to such situations in life but I guess it's okay.. it's life's entertainment for me maybe? Yes, I can turn something negative to sound kinda fun, I'm jsut like that, despite all the insecurities I have about myself and how dissatisfied I am with the genes I've inherited and basically my appearance (although that does not mean I would want to go under the knife, NEVER, if I can't be the type of beautiful that I perceive to be 'perfect' the natural way, I DON'T WANT IT, simple as that.)
Anyway, yeah, time to get back to my tutorials, hope I'll wake up tmr in a body as hot as Candice's and an angelic face like hers hahah! FreakyFriday Felicia's Edition.
Ps: DON'T GIVE UP! DON'T GIVE IN!! It's one last PUSH FOR TWO WEEKS FELI! And then you can got to all the ballet classes you want and do all the boxing you want, and long jogs for your liss cardio and stop being a Ball (lol class inside joke) and be 'rewarded' with watching the VSFS 2014 LIVE!!! :D in peace~ GOGOGO!!! CANDICE IS ROOTING FOR YOU! HAHAHAHA!

Sleepover
Guess what! I'm sleeping over at Maryanne's hall today! Hehehe! So fun!
We talked about so much, it's never ending! She's planning to get me the 2012 VSFS angel robe WOOHOO!!! :DDD So exciting! Hopes she remembers how to tell if it's a fake HAHAHA! YAY!! So exciting, hmmm I wish I could get my Nike Airmax 2014 pink-aqua running shoes as a gift but I don't think anyone knows how to find it except me, or maybe Zihui since I always show her and tell her the names of it on FB chat hahaha! But yeah, I guess you can only find it on ebay to be safe, and shipped from US or Netherlands or Sweden or any western countries.

Modelinia: Candice Swanepoel on Preparing for the 2014 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
Yay! New interview! ^^

With Thanksgiving, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and the holiday season all lying just around the corner, anticipation is running high around the Modelinia office and we’re not alone in our excitement. On Tuesday morning, Victoria’s Secret Angel Candice Swanepoel descended upon the retailer’s Herald Square store in New York City where she had the honor of unveiling this year’s multi-million dollar Dream Angels Fantasy Bras along with its latest holiday designer collection. Surrounded by a plethora of sparkly, lacy, frilly bras and panties in hues of red, lavender and black, Candice, looking very sexy and chic in a high-slit asymmetrical skirt and black turtleneck, shared her gift picks of the season while chatting with us about the upcoming Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Get the scoop on how the South African stunner is gearing up for this year’s runway including her pre-show workout routine, must-have London travel essentials and more!
I love the new Scandalous collection. The campaign is very dark and moody and of corse, very sexy. The push-up bra is one of my favorite pieces in the collection. I also always recommend perfume as a great gift for a loved one— you can’t go wrong. This year, there’s the new Heavenly fragrancewhich comes with limited-edition Swarovski crystal wings, making it an extra-special gift for the holiday season.
As a model, I have to stay ready all year round, but about four weeks before the show is when I really start to push myself. I try to focus on my butt and legs a lot more using different strength training exercises and I also box. Justin [Gelband] and I really haven’t changed much of my workout over the years (Ed. note: clearly, it’s working for her). We still tend to do a lot of leg lifts, a lot of exercises using the ball, and a lot of things that I can do lying down when I’m traveling and in the hotel.
Usually when I’m in London for work, I’m unfortunately flying in and out and not staying very long. But I do have some favorite areas that I like to stay in, like Soho. That’s kind of like where everything happens and there’s also a lot of really great restaurants. I also love to visit the different gardens— they take very good care of them over there.
My beauty bag is really always packed— it’s a simple routine: cleanse, tone (rose water spray), moisturize and then add an eye cream at night. Of course, Victoria’s Secret takes care of us at the show, so I don’t have to worry about bringing a lot with me. It is important though that my skin is nice and tan for the show so I make sure to bring self-tanning cream with me. I really like the one from Lorac and then Victoria’s Secret has a great lotion that also adds a little shimmer to the skin. And then I always make sure to pack my favorite hair products. Our hair is worked on all the time, so it’s important that I use a really good, nourishing shampoo and conditioner like the ones fromKerastase.
I love smoothies! At home I like to make a blueberry, banana, protein shake. I like to add little potions to it, like collagen powder, fish oil, almond butter, honey— healthy things like that. I also always do a protein shake after I finish working out to help support muscle growth to replenish my body.

Where is my trade off?!
[Peep into my convo with Abbey today]
A: Is it just me or the guys that have a high chance of liking you all the same one... people say something then start to act all weird!!
F: YA IKR, I tell u, I'm cursed.
So, what I don't understand is, if I'm already cursed with such a horrible curse then why aren't I pretty and hot yet??!!
Rmb I said, if I had to sacrifice something big and equally impt in return for granting my wish to be pretty and smart and hot (haha!) it would be to be to not find my partner in life right??
SO WHY AM I NOT GRANTED MY WISH NOW THAT THIS SACRIFICE IS TRUE!!!
A: Obviously you are hot and pretty Just that you dont know only
And i tell you, your wish wouldnt make you any happier de uhh!
Everyone else knows~
F: T^T My wish would make me happier!! Hahaha
Feels like my life is a joke to the Universe/Stars/Fairygodmother/CandiceNiangNiang(LOL)/whatever that hears my wishes :/
Ps: I need to learn to shut my mouth on certain opinions :(( I think Sean is kinda annoyed at what I said abt his ootd T^T even though(I'm sure he isn't petty) he said he don't care but it feels like there's 0.000001% annoyance 😅😰 I know he will probably never know abt this blog or see this but please don't be mad!! I am really bad with words T^T Things are really getting more crappy these days, first Andreas isn't really talking to me anymore, like idk what happened?? It feels like I did or say something wrong but the fact is I don't even know what, or recall anything. So now I have 1 less friend, and I have no one to eat with me when XF isn't around T^T. Then now, I can't shut my stupid mouth from saying things I don't even mean for it to be a bad thing. :( WHYYYYYYY!
Psps: okay y'know what, I just re-read whatever I said, and it's not even offensive la! So I don't think he's mad, but if it is then I'm really *speechless*

Can you spot me?
Found some of my last performance photos taken in 2012? or was it 2013? on Dancepointe's FB uploads and from my friend's albums.. Can you spot me?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Alright. if you can't, I'll give you some hints, my face can be seen (DUH, why would I ask you to guess if half my face is covered or unrecognizable. -.-) and if you can recognize my face shape it would be better! Btw, my legs look quite nice in pointe shoes okay! LOL So don't bother finding pork-y legs.
So have you found me?? If you thought it was the first girl then... WRONG! I am hardly ever good enough/ petite enough to be in front LOL!
If you guessed the 3rd girl from the front, in the left row then CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D Yes, the one looking like she's sleeping that's me haha! I'm beside Joey whose face is covered in this photo... I can't rmb who was the first girl though.... I think it's Natalie... I really can't rmb, I only rmb where I was standing HAHAHA!
Guess!!!
Okay I'll just tell you, I'm in the 2nd column(counting from the right), 2nd girl.
Okay this is a bit hard right! 7th girl in the row, behind Angeline! hehe!
This is obvious enough...
And so is this...
I'm beside Angeline in this one but we're diagonally spaced so it's pretty hard..I'm behind the first girl on the right :D The smaller girl behind me is Angeline!
This was back in lower Sec :D I used to think I looked like crap but now I think it's still okay! LOL
Lost & fickle
So.. I've been thinking the past week that I might not be having a birthday party after all..
Firstly, there's so much to plan and finding accommodating locations are rather troublesome, they are either inflexible in that they insist I use their catering/food provided, or I can't decorate the place by sticking blue tack ( they insist on only having flower stands as decor =.=) or they can't accommodate the number of ppl I have to invite, about 60 at the very least.
And I don't want a chalet cuz honestly. I hate staying in chalets. Especially the ones in SG, cuz it's usually quite inaccessible from necessities. More importantly, the 5 days leading up to my birthday I'm having 2 camp-related chalets consecutively, so I'd be damn sick of chalet already.
And since Candice didn't have an extravagant party too(lol, but it's cuz she was away from family, working overseas), I suppose it's much more meaningful to have multiple simple celebrations with the ones that matter and at the same time I can give them all my full attention, which I won't be able to if I had a party.
The only reason I want a party is probably cuz I can have one of those pretty themed cakes, wear a nice outfit(?) (LOL) and basically cuz parties are fun! IMO. Also cuz my actualy birthday is during semester break and on a Saturday. But oh well, I'm having trouble with getting a good venue, let alone come up with the theme, so I guess I'd much prefer to keep it simple.
I guess life has a way of making you slowly learn to appreciate simplicity in everything. So yup I guess this should be my decision..
Back to my tutorials now!

Back to my tutorials now!
May seem stubborn to you
Trying to start on some Math catching up but I can't seem to concentrate now :(.. Anw, this week was kinda of fulfilling in a way cuz I managed to exercise at least 3 times so far, hopefully later I won't be too tired to go for my jog in the evening. If I do, I'll jump rope! Speaking of which I ran 3.8k on Monday and 4.4k on Tuesday YAY!!! Was feeling super motivated by Candice for some reason haha!
Plus, I am recently always sort of stressed and sad, to which Abbey says "You know I am damn afraid that you might have some sort of depression! Cuz you're only in ur first year of Uni!", during our gym session after my DE paper yesterday. (btw, I'm still kinda sad after finding out I failed my Physics quiz, although I don't deserve to feel sad cuz I didn't do some of the tutorials :( )
Anyway, I just thought, "I have to do this more consistently". It's not about speed, like running was fast as you can for 2.4k or 3k or 4k, etc it's the quality, like pacing yourself properly I guess! I realized, after doing a lot research and cross referencing, and through Kayla Itsines' fitness "education" in her ebook, that even though u may be just doing a slow long jog, it's probably gonna be more effective in the long run and when the benefits accumulate.
Comparing my runs from the end of last year and earlier this year, before I started on Kayla's routine, to my recent runs, I realized something. I used to sort of "sprint" in the beginning of my runs so I can clock a passable timing for my 2.4k but usually after my 2.4 mark I continue to run for another 1-3k depending on my level of motivation (LOL). But as expected I was super slow. And compared to my jogs now, which I jog at like a slow enough pace so that I can keep this consistency for at least 35mins- 45mins (which is recommended by Kayla as LISS cardio), it's almost the same timing! Just that I reach the 2.4k mark much earlier last time. But ultimately, I still end up finishing at almost the same timing, just abt 2-3 mins short.

Which brings me to what I wanna say, I may have finished my 2.4k part of my run earlier last time, but in the end the amount of fat burned effectively is more when I am consistent throughout cuz I'm metabolizing fat for energy for a longer time than when I sprinted at the beginning where my body was metabolizing energy from the carbs :/ Additionally, I also find that I actually don't find it as tough to push myself to get up for my "runs" when I jog at a consistent pace.
So yup, and I also believe in what Michael Olajide says about conditioning. The more you do it, the more conditioned your body will get, so at the end of the day you will naturally be progressively running faster even without you noticing it :D
So screw those people who keep trying to force their beliefs on me. You like to sprint all out? Fine, do it your way but I have a different set of goals to reach and I have a plan which I'd like to try and experiment without having you force your opinions on me and bringing me down.
What works for others( especially guys) may not work on me or everyone else. This is probably why I don't like exercising with most of my friends cuz they are always forcing what they think is right, on me. We are all on different levels of fitness and your body isn't like mine. Plus you don't know how hard I've worked, (wait till they try Kayla Itsines' book and complete it consistently, then they'll know how hard I worked).
But anw, my right knee is really giving me problems, especially when I go down stairs, I feel pain. Sometimes I don't feel it but most of the time the pain is there. Which is also why I'm no longer doing HIIT sprints but just refocusing on LISS cardio, jump roping and boxing(soon, when my bag is up) :DD

And like Kayla says, "train like those whose bodies you want to achieve", if you want to get their bodies, you have to do what they do. So if I want a body like Candice's I have to do what she does, but ofcourse, areas where I lack in, like her crazily high metabolism, I have to make up for it with more cardio and building lean muscles.
So yup, this is sort of a rant I guess, but I also want this to be a record of what I've learnt about myself from my "journey" so far.
*Add-on*
This page totally reinstates what I've been explaining!! Which I didn't know there was a term for it, Medium Intensity Steady State(MISS) cardio.. Basically it just means that you either do one of the extremes (super fast or super slow) or u don't do it at all cuz MISS is the least effective.
Conclusion: Do which ever suits you best/ you prefer cuz at the end of the day which ever you'll prefer, you'll work harder at it and be consistent with it. But the best is that you do a bit of both extremes :D Like what is recommended here.

Alessandra and Adriana for the Fantasy Bra this year
And... it's out! Ed Razek announced on his instagram just a few mins ago that they'd be the first to wear the dual FB. Interesting... but shouldn't they let Doutzen have a chance at it?! Adriana and Ale have both worn it before :( Oh well, good luck Doutzen, I really hope it's your turn next year!!

Candice News: Supermodel Secrets: Candice Swanepoel on her workout routine and healthy lifestyle
If there is any supermodel whose secrets we want to know, its Candice Swanepoel, who celebrates her 26th birthday today and who has already passed many impressive career milestones.
The flaxen-haired modeling talent from South Africa is a classic beauty with the kind of jaw-dropping physique that made her a breakout star in the competitive world of Victoria’s Secret modeling. It takes effort to keep her looks in peak condition, and Swanepoel divulges the details of her diet, workout routine, and health regimen in an interview with Savoir Flair. As her job demands a high amount of muscle concentration and hours spent posing, she is careful not to overdo her workouts, although, that doesn’t stop her from sneaking in a few squats. In her own words, “you can do them anywhere!”
Read on for an in-depth look at the workout routine and positive healthy lifestyle of the beautiful birthday girl.
What kind of attitude do you have towards staying healthy and fit?
Staying healthy and fit is my job but to be able to work the way we do, I also need to do it. Taking care of myself makes me feel better; it makes me able to perform as a model. If I was unhealthy I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. I feel lucky that it is part of my job to take care of myself.

How do you sneak in exercise into your working day?
I usually can’t but our work is so physical, shooting lingerie and swimwear, that I work my body out all day. I know which muscles to target – as I’m posing, in a way I’m actually working out. I don’t pose lazily – I pose with purpose and use every muscle.

Do you stick to a regular workout routine for a long time?
No, I know my body well enough to know when I need to rest if I’ve been working a lot. I can also feel when I need to focus on intensifying my exercise for a few weeks. It’s all about balance… You can’t overwork your body.

When you’re traveling or when pressed for time, what exercises do you like to do?
Squats are always good and you can do them anywhere! Because traveling is physical already, I try not to overexert myself. If I feel like I need to do something before a shoot, I’ll do some resistance training on towel in hotel.

Do you have a go-to gym outfit? What’s your preferred style?
I don’t have a go to outift. I like to mix up my outfits to make it more interesting. Sometimes I like to go more “hip-hop” and other times more feminine, like when I do Pilates and ballet. I like to dress for the exercise I’m doing and Victoria’s Secret Sport has such a great range that I can find everything I need there. I love the Victoria’s Secret Incredible Front Close Bra for more intense activity and The Angel Sport Bra for low-intensity activity.

What is in your gym bag?
Right now I have ankle weights, resistance bands, and water, so that I can really be on the go. I also love having the Victoria’s Secret Sport Incredible Front Close Bra in there – it’s so comfortable and supportive. It’s always good to have some fragrance in my bag to put on after a workout – right now I love the Victoria’s Secret Scandalous scent.

How has your approach to your own physical and mental well-being transformed since becoming a Victoria’s Secret Angel?
When I started with VS, I started learning more about what I should eat, how my body works, what exercise is best for me, and how far I can push my body. Working for VS has also taught me a lot about work and life balance.

Happy Birthday, Candice Swanepoel: See the Victoria’s Secret Angel’sFirst and Best Moments in Vogue
In 2004, Candice Swanepoelwalked into the Vogue office for her first casting Polaroid. Although it would be some time before Swanepoel became a fixture of the Victoria’s Secret runway, although New York was a far cry from the South African dairy farm where she’d grown up, the sixteen-year-old who arrived dressed in black, her hair a bit darker than the flaxen shade she’s known for now, she already displayed the supermodel spark that would launch her career a few years later.
Fast-forward to 2007, when the sand-strewn seraph walked her first Victoria’s Secret show. Another three years later, she earned her wings, and at the Victoria’s Secret show in 2013, she donned the Fantasy Bra—featuring $10 million worth of bedazzling jewels. Off-swimsuit season, the Angel gets down to earth, with a modeling career that has flourished on multiple runways—most recently walking the spring 2015 shows for Marc Jacobs,Michael Kors, and Diane von Furstenberg.
Here, take a look at the versatile model’s best moments in Vogue—and her decade-long transformation from casting call candidate to runway star.

Happy 26th Birthday Candice!❤️
My inspiration since secondary school. The first time I ever saw Candice was in the 2007 fashion show that was aired on 2008 New Year's Eve. (Yes, back then media was still pretty slow in a way) And then a year later, she slowly became a bigger and bigger inspiration and a life role model to me with each year that passes.
So, thank you for showing me & tons of other girls out there that nothing worth having comes without hardwork and reminding us to stay grounded. You inspire & motivate me in so many ways that even I myself am amazed by how much I can learn about life from a stranger miles away. Happy Birthday Candice!❤️
With love from Sunny Singapore!
Xx Felicia ❤️
Ps: It's summer all year round here! So I hope you'll get to visit my country, you'll love it! :)

V Magazine Interview
Was just googling to see if Candice ever talked about what subjects she liked back when she was studying and stumbled on to this interview she did with V magazine a long time ago. :p I know.. it's weird, cuz this is some of the things I surf on the net while others are using their comp to play games etc.. xD
MEET THE COVER MODEL: CANDICE SWANEPOEL
12/13/2011, FROM ELSEWHERE
For our November issue, we at V magazine collaborated with photographer Terry Richardson and styling icon Carine Roitfeld on four special edition supermodel-in-the-making covers. While the resultant pictures were the exact blend of tongue-in-cheek glamour we’d expect from those two, I also spoke to all eight of our cover girls about growing up, being discovered, working in fashion, and what their lives are like in this fun, fabulous industry. First up? The South African stunner, Victoria Secret angel and current face of Tom Ford: Candice Swanepoel. The biggest revelation for me? Turns out Candice grew up a tomboy working on a dairy farm, which makes me think maybe my mother was on to something when she’d tell us kids we had to drink our milk to grow up big and strong. (For more from our November issue, which was our fashion extravaganza, go to Vmagazine.com)
Derek Blasberg: Let’s start at the very beginning. I know you grew up in South Africa, so tell me about your childhood memories.
Candice Swanepoel: My childhood was something I could never explain to anyone. The freedom and love I grew up surrounded by is such a big part of me. I grew up on a dairy farm, and it was everything to me. My parents had to sell our farm when I was living in NY because it’s becoming dangerous in that part of South Africa. I grew up close to animals and nature, the Zulu culture, and basically everything was an adventure. My memories of my childhood are so sacred to me.
DB: Any particularly strong memories?
CS: I was definitely Daddy’s little farm girl. I remember helping him feed and milk the cows, fish and make forts. I am so fortunate to have grown up like that. Wild, free and innocent.
DB: I’ve never been to South Africa – what’s the big thing to do there?
CS: Going on safari is probably the best thing to do in South Africa. It’s really an amazing experience that everyone should do once in their life.
DB: What were you like as a young girl? Were you outgoing, or more pensive?
CS: I was an extremely pensive little girl, always observing and very shy. I would watch peoples’ manner and way of being before I let anyone in. I enjoyed my time alone. I still do. I was surrounded mostly by boys growing up: my cousins, my brother and I were like The Little Rascals and used the farm as our dream world.
DB: Fashion is sometimes called a dream world.
CS: I was a big dreamer too. I always felt I wanted to do something different than everyone else. I fantasized about all the places I want to travel to. I knew at a very young age I wanted to see the world. And look, my dreams came true!
DB: Did you have hobbies growing up, or did you play sports?
CS: Ballet was my passion. I had been dancing from a very young age. My mom was a dancer too, so it was something that bonded us. I loved the discipline and elegance of ballet, and the training has helped me so much.
DB: Now, let’s talk a little bit about your career. How were you discovered? And what were some of your early jobs?
CS: I was discovered shopping with my mom at a local flea market in the city by our farm. I met with an agency and, before I knew it, I was whisked off to London. I lived in Europe for a couple of years, traveling between Milan, London and Paris, slowly learning with each job. Two years later, I moved to New York, and soon after, Victoria’s Secret discovered me. It can be a lonely life as a new model, like being a gypsy – until you find a base to call home. There were a couple of big decisions that could have changed my career and life completely, and I’m thankful that I always went with my gut feeling.
DB: What were your first impressions of New York?
CS: I came to New York for the first time when I was 16. I loved everything about it. The fast pace, and everyone on the street was more different and extravagant than the next. I knew from the moment I arrived that I wanted to live here. I would spend a couple of months here, living in the model apartments, and then I moved here full-time when I was 18. New York is the easiest place for a model to be based. Fashion is completely different in each city, but New York taught me to put my head down and work as hard as I can for as long as I can with the hope that one day my hard work will pay off. New York is where I became a businesswoman.
DB: All of the girls on the shoot are from all over the place: Tunisia, the Netherlands, Kansas. Do you like to travel?
CS: I love traveling! Its feeds my soul. Travel is the best education there is, much more than sitting in a class and just reading about it. Actually, learning and trying new things, seeing new cultures and ways of life, that’s how you grow and find out who you are. I’d love to take two years and just travel to all the places I haven’t really explored: India, Indonesia, Thailand, Bali, Ibiza, and more.
DB: Fashion is such an international industry.
CS: We are so lucky to be surrounded by such open minded, well traveled individuals. Everyone has a different story and journey that we can learn from. We get to express ourselves in art and it can be crazy, but that’s the beauty of it. A mixture of different people and personalities coming together to make one image. Our jobs aren’t easy but there is nothing I’d rather do.
DB: Do you have a favorite place?
CS: Bahia, Brazil. I feel the most alive there. It’s strange: I can smell better, taste better, breathe better. I’m free and wild there. That’s where I’m happiest. There are so many beautiful places I’ve been, but there is an energy in Bahia that I cannot resist.
DB: My favorite thing about the fashion industry is that we get to travel so much. Do you still like it, or would you prefer to spend some more time outside of an airport?
CS: I love traveling, but airports are definitely one of my pet peeves. It has just become such an annoying process with security and lines. When you travel every couple days, it can make you mental. I prefer driving or taking a boat or a bus or anything that doesn’t have security lines. But I guess it’s part of my job to be patient.
DB: What do you miss from home?
CS: I miss my farm immensely, and the lifestyle I had growing up. Time used to go so slowly. I miss my family and being able to share my life with them. Being so far and basically in another world, it gets harder and harder to have a regular conversation. I miss my dogs too.
DB: Did you have any role models in fashion?
CS: Kate Moss and Karen Mulder.
DB: Has any designer or model given you a good piece of advice?
CS: Not from anyone specific, but what I’ve learned from my parents and the years I’ve been in the industry is to always treat people with respect, no matter what they do in our industry. You will most probably cross paths again somewhere along the line. Many girls make the mistake of being too competitive. I just worry about what I’m doing and if I’m happy doing it, and just generally focus on being a good person at the end of the day. I believe good things come to people who give.
DB: You have a fabulous career: You’ve managed to do both high fashion and something more mainstream, like Victoria’s Secret. Is one sort of work more fun or gratifying than the other?
CS: I have been so lucky in my career to do both. Working with Victoria’s Secret is more than just a job – it’s a lifestyle. I get to travel to amazing islands with people who are like my family, people who have nurtured me and helped me learn and grow, and gave me confidence. I’m fortunate to have that, and on top of that I have had a bunch of incredible people from the high fashion world who support and believe in me. It all started with Mario Testino and Steven Meisel. They transformed my career into what it is today. I’m having a ball meeting and working with all these incredibly creative people.
DB: What’s it like to be an Angel? And how did you react when they told you that you got that job?
CS: It’s such an honor to be part of such an iconic brand. After traveling alone for a couple of years, it felt so good to know I was part of something. The funny thing is that I was living in Paris, and I was ready to give modeling up and move back to South Africa to study. My agent called me and said that Victoria’s Secret wanted to meet me for their fashion show, and that if I got the job I should move to New York. So I agreed. It was a deal. I got the show and moved to New York soon after, and began working with VS more and more. I will never forget the call saying I booked the show. I was beyond excited! It’s wonderful to know that VS chose me to be an Angel and that they trust me to represent their brand. Thinking of the super models before me, it’s crazy. It’s a huge pleasure and honor for me.
DB: Have you had any surreal fashion moments? Like, have there been times when you’ve had to pinch yourself because you can’t believe something is happening?
CS: So many! It’s easy to get caught up in the rush and forget what is real. Sometimes everything seems normal – but my life is definitely not normal! Becoming an Angel was a big moment for me, shooting Italian Vogue with Steven Meisel was another big moment that I will never ever forget. And it has just continued to be like that. Working with Tom Ford was another incredible moment in my career. I’ve been a fan of his for many years, even before I started modeling. I used to stick his campaigns on my school books, so working with him was surreal. My life since I left South Africa at 16 has been an amazing adventure. I think only when I retire will I will fully realize everything that has happened to me.
DB: Did you have fun working on our cover shoot? What was your impression of working with Terry and Carine?
CS: It was a blast! Terry was fun and so sweet. He had the perfect play list for Joan [Smalls] and me. It was a very easy day with Terry, and Carine is the epitome of elegance to me. She is how a woman should be: elegant and feminine, yet extremely strong. I have had the opportunity to work with her a lot in the recent months; she is a force to be reckoned with, and I adore working with her.
DB: You and Joan were teasing about having the best dance moves of the group, and I’ll say that when I saw your moves I was pretty impressed. Do you like to dance?
CS: Haha! Thank you. I love dancing, and it’s such a release. I enjoy all different types of music. I escape through music. I can’t live without music. In fact, I won’t work without music. From reggae, old school hip hop, electronic, funk, samba, rock – basically everything. Joan and I were watching the other girls and decided we better pull out our best moves. I don’t think Joan expected this little white girl could keep up with her island style grooves, but people forget that I’m from Africa! Ha!
DB: Apart from this shoot, of course, have you had any photo shoots or jobs that you really loved? Any good stories? Any people that you loved working with?
CS: I recently worked with Karl Lagerfeld, which was incredible. I was a bit nervous, but he has the most wonderful sense of humor and immediately made me feel at ease. I love working with Mario [Testino] always. He just knows how to make you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. I feed off his fun-loving, naughty energy. No wonder he makes such timeless images.
DB: Do you like doing catwalk shows?
CS: I enjoy them very much. Not only from a model’s point of view, but I really enjoy seeing what’s next and what’s new. Fashion is such an extension of who you are as a person. And I also kind of love the rush.
DB: What’s been your favorite discovery?
CS: As for a place, my favorite discovery was Brazil. And I’ve made a few close friends over the years. It’s hard to keep relationships in such a crazy profession, but they are the smartest, most incredible women I know. My dog Luna, if she can be considered a discovery, is the sweetest best thing in the world. So many people told me not to get a dog, but it was one of the best decisions I ever made. She is my partner.
DB: Let’s talk about your beauty routine: How do you take care of yourself? Any exercise or diet tips? What kind of makeup do you use?
CS: I’ve always taken good care of myself from a very young age. That’s something my mom always told me: “The earlier you start taking good care of your body and skin, the better.” I exercise a lot, 4 days a week if I can. I’ve been working out with a trainer for years, so my body is like a machine, which it needs to be – people don’t realize how physical a model’s job is. So staying in shape helps me deal with work and travel. I also take care of my skin as if my life depended on it. Skin is the most beautiful with nothing on it. I love waking up in the morning and not needing makeup. When I’m not working I don’t wear much makeup.
DB: Favorite designers?
CS: Tom Ford, Balmain, Chloe, Stella McCartney, Balenciaga, Alexander Wang, Versace, Dolce, Isabel Marant, Rag and Bone.
DB: If you had to define your personal style, how would you call it?
CS: Always changing. It’s simple, easy, elegant, feminine, 70′s, bohemian. I have a lot of vintage pieces. Denim and leather are a staple too. I’m obsessed with jewelry and anything with a fringe. I don’t own winter clothes – in winter I just add tights and get a very warm coat and try not to leave home for anything other than work.
DB: If you weren’t modeling, what do you think you would be doing?
CS: I’d probably be a veterinarian.
DB: And finally, a really tough one: Where do you want to be in 10 years? And then in 20 years?
CS: It’s hard to even think about next week but I have dreams for the future. In 10 years, I’d love to have a quaint home on the beach, with a little family and loads of dogs. I want to wake up in the morning and be able to walk straight onto the beach, and just enjoy the simple life. Slow down a bit. In 20 years – well, I can’t even imagine myself in 20 years. Hopefully happy and at peace, surrounded by friends and family looking back on life and knowing that I made the most of my opportunities.

Happy POP my precious poly friends!
So happy POP to my beloved poly friends!! They POP-ed ytd but I was too tired to post anything. haha! Except to post up the photo of me and Jason cuz it's the only photo I looked nice in and I didn't have the group photo cuz it's still with Nas!!!
Anw, was quite bummed out cuz I didn't manage to take a proper photo with ZY and couldn't get a class photo cuz Perry had to leave and Keekhong left!!!? >:-@@ Oh well, I hope I can meet up with them soon I really miss them so much! I miss them everyday! And I'm writing this today cuz as I'm studying physics now, I am missing the times studying in Ngee Ann, the smell of the classrooms, studying atmosphere, everything! :'(( I guess, as much as Uni is fun, it still sucks as compared to poly, it's so mundane, it's always studying, no play, even when I'm "playing" all I can think of in my head is study. T^T
Speaking of which, I'm not sure if getting into Uni was a blessing or not, maybe being a guy is good cuz NS sort of gives you a break? And you get paid to be fit haha! Even Supermodels have to pay thousands just to get personal trainers and here you get it free and even paid! LOL. Jason was like "eh you know a lot leh!! (about army lol) Join army la!" I was like hell noooo! Cuz I don't have the mental capacity to run everyday and without music haha! If not I really don't mind! (The trainings LOL)
Never thought my life after poly would be this bad, I knew it would suck cuz poly is truly the best years of my life but I never anticipated it to be this bad T^T It's getting more and more difficult to stay positive, to others I may still seem bubbly but behind closed doors my tears are waiting to pour cuz of all the trapped emotions.:(
Oh well, back to the books, so glad that I am going to Amore gym with Zihui later, but all good things must come to an end so after that, it's back to hall for more mugging :(

Take it as a compliment
Hi there, so I'm finally finished with my midterms for Circuit Analysis and Math A..
It went pretty badly, for CA I'm not sure if i should do a retest cuz there's a chance that I might not pass the 2nd time... although prof says that a retest will definitely be much easier but stuff like this is really subjective..
I think I can do it cuz my foundation for DC circuits and theorems are quite strong thanks to Mr Lee Thian Pau but I just don't know if it'll be worth the risk..
Anyway, Math was really horrible cuz I couldn't do most of the qns! Especially all the integration ones, I just ended up in the same loop where I have to keep integrating to no end using integration by parts T^T I worst part was when I forgot the form of my r(x) to solve for particular solution!!! >:-@ My mind went totally blank! It was just filled with all the trigo formulae that I crammed into my head last minute which, by the way, I didn't need to use at all. So, it's okay, I tried variation by parameters since it doesn't require me to know the form of my r(x), but then the workings just got too long =.= and when it came to the integrating part, I ended up in circles again, like all my other integration qns. So basically, everyone is gonna get 90% for their midterms and I am screwed, thank you *curtsies*
But oh well, my only consolation to this is that.. It's proof that I am really not meant to do engineering, it's not that I haven't tried hard enough, because I have?! And considering how much I hate what I'm studying yet I'm sacrificing sleep to learn this shit I never thought I'd still be stuck with..Yeah, *pats back* it's okay Feli, just take it as a compliment, that I'm a more artistically inclined person :P

"Growing up I had no clue about clothes, designers, fashion magazines at all," Adriana Lima admitted. "I thought I was going to grow up and go to university and study medicine. I don't know what happened!"
"For British Vogue today, it's a totally different feeling; it's very raw," Candice Swanepoel said of the shoot. "I think it's good for people to see us in a different way."
"Couture is just special, because it's one of a kind, they're special pieces. Not many people get to wear it obviously. Today, we get to play with fashion and be girly, have fun and create these iconic images."

UOC 14.25
Today's 14.25 was super fun!! Even though at the beginning of the first game, Captain's Ball, I was super blur or something?! Like my reflexes were retarded or what not. I couldn't catch the ball properly!
But Jabez still kept passing to me, even though its quite obvious I'll probably not be able to save the ball haha! (As pointed out by Susan hahah!) Thankful that our guys don't leave the girls out of the game, just to win a game :D
And I redeemed myself after that. During the last field games before the water games, we had another round with Z group and I could play much better YAY! Like I "blocked"/ pushed away(?) the ball while the other team was passing so yay! :DD
Ps: And my knee is hurting again!! Like the sudden-in-a-split-second-sharp pain is back?!
During UOC, while we're having the out of school amazing race I think?
I was just standing and suddenly I felt the super sharp pain in my knee, and I sort of wobbled.
Now it's like I feel the same sharp pain while I'm walking but it's slightly more bearable. Cuz the one I felt during camp was a one time sharp pain and then it's gone. But it was super painful that I went weak on one leg. I think it has something to do with with I "sprint" or like run at a high intensity w/o much time to rest, then my knees sort of get overworked or something? Cuz today's Captain's ball, during Z group Girls VS S group Girls, I really gave it my all. And that's when I felt the pain.
I think my group can tell the difference haha! Comparing it to the first Captian's ball when it was a mixed team and I couldn't even catch a ball!?
And I'm happy to say that my sports shoe has finally retired HAHAA! I can finally say goodbye to this pair of shoes. Never really liked it, only bought it cuz it was one of the more decent looking out of all those in the $50 range. HAHAHA! Nonetheless, I still had some good times with this pair of Nikes.
I'll put up some of the photos another time
Meanwhile try this quiz! I know it's not true but it's fun to do!

Paris changed my life
FINALLY after 5 years I found the photos from my London and Paris adventures back from when my waist was 24inches hahaha! I shall show some of the more I-can-still-live-with-people-seeing-these-few-unglam-moments-of-my-life-picts. LOL! Some of the photos are jumbled up so yeah, I'll probably arrange them some other time. Supposed to be studying CA now!
Bottom line is... This trip totally changed my life cuz ever since I don't shop with my mom anymore HAHAHHA! AND MY FASHION SENSE IS BETTER LOL! Not that my mom's taste is bad, cuz it isn't but somehow I used to make bad choices? and she didn't stop me?!!
As you can see I had so little clothes, I only had 1 jacket and it's recycled throughout the trip lol. I can't imagine I let myself look like this back then!? Barbie was my childhood friend but I don't even dress like her! >:-@ Didn't dare to follow model advices cuz I thought "skinny jeans were made for skinny people". FYI, I cried when my aunt forced my to try on a pair of Uniqlo skinnies while I was in London LOL! (Ps: back then Uniqlo haven't came to SG yet!)

I can't pose to save my life...=.=# it's hard to believe back then I was already into all the modelling and fashion and candice stuff... Look at how clueless I am with my angles. (Not that I have good angles but you get what i mean..)
Iggy and Gabriel will laugh to their heart's content if they see this.
I kinda think I look like Einstein in this pict lol, same face.
My thighs are the same size as hers but she looks so much hotter and taller :(
Probably the only pict I like cuz my body shape looks good lol
