KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa native Candice Swanepoel was discovered in a Durban flea market by a local modeling scout. Perhaps best known for as a lead Victoria’s Secret Angel, Swanepoel has appeared in its annual televised fashion show for seven consecutive years, and famously opened the show in 2011. She has also fronted innumerable print and television campaigns for the intimate apparel behemoth, and can currently be seen it its Fearless campaign. She has also starred in advertisements for Tom Ford, Versace, Miu Miu, Rag & Bone, Prabal Gurung, Oscar de la Renta, and Brian Atwood, as well as Nike, Diesel, Topshop, Juicy Couture, and Guess, among others.
Select pret-a-porter runway appearances include Christian Dior, Chanel, Givenchy, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Stella McCartney, Elie Saab, Jason Wu, Diane Von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, and Marc Jacobs.
Swanepoel has fronted over one dozen international editions of Vogue--including the 50th Anniversary issue of Vogue Italia photographed by Steven Meisel--by Meisel, Sebastian Kim, and Terry Richardson, and accompanying editorial features by Patrick Demarchelier, Craig McDean, Norman Jean Roy, and Bruce Weber. She has also appeared in W, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, and Elle magazines by Mario Sorrenti, Mert & Marcus, Inez & Vinoodh, and Sebastian Faena, among others.
Swanepoel has also had star turns in the international editions of GQ, LOVE, Purple, Numéro, TEN, Allure, and MUSE magazines by Cedric Buchet, Yu Tsai, Alexi Lubomirski, Cass Bird, Dan Jackson, and Willy Vanderperre. Mario Testino photographed her for a twenty-five page spread for V Man magazine, and remarked, “Candice is an amazing new find for me, gorgeous, free and fun...she made the shoot an amazing experience.”
Off-duty, Swanepoel enjoys swimming, and practicing ballet and yoga.
